The OriginS of the Reglar Wiglar Reglar Wiglar is a zine that was first published from 1993 to 2005. (Read about the Reglar Wiglar's genesis here!) It existed in the print medium. We didn't have all that cybershit back in '93. Not like now. Much of this site is basically an archive—although incomplete—of the twenty-one issues that were printed in that twelve year span of time. Originally, the zine consisted of fictitious interviews with made-up bands as well as invented reviews of non-existent records. Yes, it was confusing even then. Eventually real interviews with real bands and comic artists started appearing.
The Rise of the BlogAbandoning print in 2005, the Reglar Wiglar Blog was established in March of that year with a series of pointless posts. This trend would continue for many years and the blog has now entered its second decade of existence as it speeds past 100,000 hits. In 2010, the digital Reglar Wiglar Magazine was begun and would be published on a quarterly basis with updates appearing (almost) daily. While the energy and spirit behind this new, ambitious endeavor soon receded, you have to admire the good intentions behind it. I do.
Return to Print2014 saw a return to a printed version of the zine with Reglar Wiglar #22 which was a complete departure from any previous incarnation. For the reboot, I began to recount my long sordid job history, which would continue in Reglar Wiglar #23 which followed in 2015. The third installment of my ongoing jobs report was published in Reglar Wiglar #24 in 2016. A 25th-anniversary issue (RW #25, 2018) was followed by a “Best of the Blog” print edition (RW #26, 2020) and 2021 saw the publication of Reglar Wiglar #27—the zine's debut in the standard comic-book format and in glorious full color. Reglar Wiglar #28 and #29 followed in 2022 and 2023 respectively. This year the zine/website celebrates its 30-year anniversary!
